The Elements and Principles of Art are still a big part of the Art 30 course, but students are also challenged to work more with concept exploration (such as making a meaningful statement through their artwork) and the development of a personal style. A new form of print making is explored and students have a lot of freedom to pursue personal topics and use the media that interests them the most. Art criticism continues to be a part of this course, as students continue to learn to talk about, interpret and understand various artwork, including their own. Students are expected to make original art and to offer the viewer something that a camera cannot.
